I hold Bakerella responsible for me thinking that the 40th Birthday Cake would have been a “piece of piss”.  (In a good way of course!)  I found Bakerella through the legendary Cake Wrecks and fell in love immediately.  It’s pure food porn from someone who loves what they do.

The imagery alone on the site should make you want to be the next Martha Stewart, but it’s combined with the most easy to follow and helpful recipes, tips and advice.   In fact, I used Bakerella as a starting point when I made the 40th Birthday Cake.

It’s so refreshing to find someone who gets so much joy out of what they do, and they’re happy to share it with the world.  The information about how to get the perfect food photo and the countless PDFs alone make this site a must have on the blogroll for anyone interested in sharing their passions with the internet and their family and friends.

Some of my favourite posts on the site are where Bakerella visits her cake supply shops.  It’s like heaven on earth.  I could (and have) pour over the photos for hours dreaming of the shopping nirvana. I never knew such places existed, and now all I want to do is find one to visit in Australia.

The other great thing about Bakerella, and this is just between you and me, when you’re having a crappy day it can make a world of difference to go to this site and see the magic.  I love to browse the cake pops, deserts and cupcake sections; just scrolling and drooling.  It’s the combination of the great food art, beautiful pictures, bright colours and punchy graphics that make it so sublime.

I couldn’t make up my mind what images to share with you to convince you to go over there and visit (a lot!) so I just thought I’d share the image I’m currently using to help make it through the work day.
