Christmas in July Sewing Inspiration

The Mug Club Sewalong with @KidGiddy & @MossandLotus on Instagram. Mug made by Angie Wilson of GnomeAngel.com

Earlier in this month I participated in the Christmas in July Mug Club Sew-along with Kid Giddy and Moss and Lotus and it got me to thinking about what other things I could make under the guise of Christmas in July so that I could be prepared for when Christmas rolls around in a mere few months. There’s so many great Christmas patterns and fabrics available at the moment that it would seem a shame not to share them all with you (despite the fact that July has nearly run it’s course).

Christmas Patterns

Sometimes you just need the perfect pattern to get started on your Christmas makes, so I’ve rounded up a group of patterns and kits that might help get those creative juices flowing.

Looking for a quilt that says Christmas without screaming Christmas, then check out this Dogs in Sweaters Kit. Combing Elizabeth Hartman’s pattern with Tula Pink’s Holiday Homies it’s a perfectly kitsch quilt that would look great in a kids room or on a couch. You can pick up the kit for AU$91.07 by clicking here.

Maybe you’re looking for something a little more traditional then check out this Holidays with Our Homies Star Kit. Bold impact, fun blocks and a great way to say happy holidays all year around. You can pick up the kit for AU$103.50 by clicking here.

If you’re looking for a small project, but one you’ll use every year, why not tackle this Winter Wonderland Advent Calendar. You can get this panel for AU$14.65 by clicking here.

How about a cute little ornament to hang on the tree. This little polar bear is just too cute to pass up. You can buy the pattern for AU$11.39 by clicking here.

While we’re talking ornaments how cute is this Christmas stocking ornament? Love it! You can buy the pattern for AU$7.16 by clicking here.

And if you’d like to participate in the Christmas in July Mug Club Sewalong over on Instagram, you can buy the Mug Club Set 1 patterns by clicking here and the Mug Club Set 2 patterns by clicking here. By playing along you can win some great prizes. Click here to find out more.

Christmas Fabrics

I rarely buy Christmas themed fabric but over the years a few prints have crept into my collection and the idea of making a Christmas specific quilt for the Little Man is growing on me. I’ve been hunting around for more fabrics that I can add to the collection and I’ve rounded up this selection to add to my wish-list.

Tula Pink has released her first ever Christmas collection and it’s a mix of some favourite Tula motifs and her sense of fun. You can order this collection as a half yard bundle for AU$97.15 by clicking here. If you don’t want to commit to a big bundle you can pick up a Fat Quarter bundle for AU$52.01 by clicking here. Alternatively you can order individual prints by clicking here.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Cotton + Steel’s Noel. I’ve actually been using bits and pieces of it in other projects and loving it. It’s great because it doesn’t necessarily read as Christmas which means you can use it in all sorts of projects. You can buy a Fat Quarter bundle for AU$87.16 by clicking here.

If buying full collections isn’t your thing then don’t despair there’s a tonne of Christmas Fabric you can find online at the moment. Here’s just a handful of prints that I’ve found and like:

Left to Right, Top to Bottom: Pink and Red Nutcracker, Starbright from Little Town, Pink Santa, Peppermint Latte Candy Cane, Christmas Moose Fabric, Christmas Sweets, Retro Red Toy Soldiers, Candy Cane Modern, Christmas Reindeer

Now I’ve justified spending a couple of hours on the internet looking for Christmas inspiration by sharing it all with you I’m off to order some fabric and plot some Christmas sewing for the coming months. Will you join me?
