Things have gotten so busy here at GnomeAngel that I’ve had to bring on a Community Happiness Officer to help out! I’m so excited to introduce you all to Beth!
Beth is a collector and curator of fabric. Not a day goes by when she doesn’t think about fabric, or steal a few moments at her sewing machine. Beth has not been sewing her whole life. In fact, the reason she started sewing is because she fell in love with the Singer 160 and bought it… before she even knew what she was going to do with it or how to use it.
Fortunately, the local sewing shop also sold patchwork fabric and within moments she’d found her life-long passion in quilting. Nowadays she also sews bags and clothes for herself and her family.
Beth comes from good sewing stock: her mum sewed clothes and, as a young woman living and working in London in the 1950’s and 1960’s, she sewed amazing couture from Vogue patterns. Her mum’s mum, Beth’s Nan, was a seamstress. We’re talking wedding gowns and all sorts of sartorial splendour.
In her day job, Beth is an Executive Officer with a PhD working at Australia’s largest R&D organisation. And she is a mum to two daughters under the age of three.
Her days are busy, but she has a passion for fabric and creating beautiful and useful things on her sewing machine.
