The Girls asked me a few weeks ago if I could sew them a replacement scrabble bag as theirs had blown a hole. I accepted the challenge having never sewn a drawnstring bag in my life, but figured – how hard can it be? (I’m starting to think this might be my life motto…)
So today I decided to seize the opportunity and make some use of my time instead of laying on the couch moaning and having a one man pity party. Using some materials I had in the home and armed with an assortment of easy patterns from the internet. I decided to wing it and make a bag.

It was my first time sewing with stretch fabric and I don’t think I’ll be repeating the process again anytime soon, but I’m really happy with the outcome. I made the bag big enough to fit all the tiles, tile holders and rule book – just in case they’re running wild in the box. This also means that if The Girls want to take the game on an adventure they just need to carry the board and the bag to their destination. Great for afternoons playing on the balcony or down by the pool.
It’s also big enough that you can just roll down the top and have the tiles open for the taking. You just have to make sure no one’s cheating!
