I finished another book tonight. Which means, I’m only 6 books behind on my goal for this year. That’s totally achievable. Especially with a couple of long plane flights ahead of me.
I sorted out my accommodation in Cambridge today. I’ll be staying at the Alexandra Apartments. HUBBY and I have decided to spend the week that he’s in the UK with Cambridge as our base. So I’ll end up spending the entire three weeks in the one apartment, which is good. It will mean that I’ll know my way around (hopefully) and I can show him some of the places I’ve been going and where I’ve been working. It’s also out of London, so it’s a little cheaper (not much though).
We’re planing on going to a travel agent this weekend and booking in a couple of tours, and one nights London accommodation. It’ll be interesting to see how we go. HUBBY is really excited, which is making me a lot more excited about it. I don’t think I’ll be able to relax into it fully until I’m on the plane. It just all seems a little surreal.
For the past three days I’ve been trying to finalise an online order with Dymocks. Since Borders has come to town, I don’t shop often with Dymocks. In fact, in the past few years their stores have become a lot less appealing. They seem to cram a lot of books into a small space, which then makes it hard for people to navigate with ease and comfortableness in the store. They don’t seem to have any order to their stores, and their staff rarely know what’s on their shelves or how to find it if the computer tells them it’s in the store.
So, we have some vouchers to use, and I’ve got two books I’ve been trying to find without any luck. I found them online with Dymocks. Bonus! However, when I went to order and tried to use my gift card their system wouldn’t allow more then one card at a time, and it excepted my order without checking how much was on the card or whether there were any supplementary payment arrangements. This then started an email chain with Dymocks about how I could go about finalizing my order. I have asked them in two seperate emails to contact me via phone so that I could finalise my order. In one reply to my requests they actually asked me for a number they could call me on. Uh der – it’s in the text of my email?!?!?
So now as I sit here I’m trying to contemplate whether I just forgo the order I’ve placed with Dymocks and buy the books elsewhere. Or I try once more to get the order completed. The frustrating thing – I could have had the books by now. *sigh* I think customer service is a dying art form.
