Week 22 | Garden Snail Quilt Snail Paced Slow-along Sew-along

June 4, 2017 by GnomeAngel

Snail Paced Slow-along Sew-along hosted by Angie Wilson of www.GnomeAngel.com. Pattern from Pen and Paper Patterns. Fabrics Liberty Lawn from The Strawberry Thief (www.thestrawberrythief.com.au) paired with Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Espresso by Robert Kaufman. Find out more at www.GnomeAngel.com

It’s the little details in this print that won my heart. The watering cans, the shovels and the various flowers. I love the bright pop of this Liberty solid paired with this print. It’s a winning combination in my book!

End Date: 30 July 2017

What Pattern Are We Using?

We’re using the Garden Snail Quilt pattern by Pen and Paper Patterns. Click here to buy Pattern.

There’s two versions of the snail in the pattern, you can make either or both snails it’s totally up to you and the quilt you’d like to make.

You can find all the information about fabric requirements via the pattern link above.

How it Works

Every Sunday (in your timezone) you’ll post a photo of one snail to Instagram. You’ll tag the photo with the relevant hashtags and follow the relevant Instagram accounts. That’s it, one photo every Sunday.

It’s so simple, you should have no problems keeping up.

Reminder Service

Because I know we’re all busy with our lives, each Sunday I will post details about that week’s block sponsor, hashtags and requirements for winning here on my blog and on my #SnailDay photo. This way you’ll always be able to find out what you need, when you need it.

Tips & Tricks

There’s no reason why you can’t sew ahead, take photos ahead and then just post on Sundays. (This is exactly what I do!)

There’s a number of services, both free and paid, that will allow you to schedule posts to Instagram. Just google “Instagram scheduling tool” and decide if there’s any there that you like, fit with your budget and will be helpful.

Alternatively, Instagram now allows you to save draft posts for posting at a later date. Click here to read how to do it.

Sponsors & Prizes

To be eligible for prizes you’ll need to follow the instructions on each Sunday’s #SnailDay blog post and Instagram post. Don’t worry, they’re not going to change each week, but they will change monthly as we welcome on a new sponsor. I will make sure all the information is available to you when you need it. And don’t forget, you can always add hashtags and edit your captions if you miss something!

You can find out more about our sponsors by clicking here.

TAKE AN INSTA-PEEK

  • I’ve been working on a little cross-stitch during these school holidays. I purchased the @countrycottageneedleworks Cottage of the Month series of patterns in 2016 to stitch while traveling to Quilt Market. It didn’t go well. (I picked the wrong colour base cloth and it looked washed out.) So I’ve picked up some 16ct Aida in this lovely mushroom colour and I’m having another crack.
.
Thanks to @kidgiddy raving about the @daylightcompany magnilight I picked one up and now I can actually see what I’m stitching! It’s brilliant! 🤓
  • 🌝 I confess this is a bit of an oddball block but I'm trusting in Caroline's vision for her blocks and having confidence that it'll work when it all comes together. I guess it just goes to show that skeleton Hello Kitty fabric can be made to work!
.

👩‍🎤 @NIGHTINGALEQUILTS VERSION
Caroline and I are making our version of Sue Daley’s Round We Go Quilt using my stash. Unfortunately I may not be able to provide all fabric details about the fabrics used, where I can I will list them here. In today’s block there’s @michaelmillerfabrics (stars), @iamlunasol, @cottonandsteel (add it up) and I don't know where the Hello Kitty fabric comes from

  • I baked today! For the first time in too long I found my way back into the kitchen to have fun. Chocolate chip muffins made fresh for the lad’s lunchbox.
.
How lush are these @bisonhome condiment bowls? I’m obsessed with this colour combination!
  • ✂️ If you're looking for some motivation to get your #100Days100Blocks or #100Days100Blocks2017 blocks assembled into a quilt top then I've got the event for you! I've posted details on my blog (LINK IN PROFILE) about the #100Days100BlocksFinishalong which is kicking off APRIL 29 and will give you a finished quilt top in time for #100Days100Blocks2018 kicking off on July 7
.
🦕 Here's a sneak peek of my @cottonandsteel #100Days100Blocks2017 quilt top coming together. I'm using @wattsalot's Tokyo Train Ride for my sashing fabric and I'm loving the texture it's adding.
  • 🌝 @Nightingalequilts and I are making more blocks for Round We Go and this one is by Caroline using some of my most precious Tula Pink fabrics. I just love how this block is subtle but still strong in it's impact. How are your blocks going?

  • 🐱🐱 I’m “stuck” on the couch with vertigo. These two rat bags (Link is on top and Sonic is on the bottom) are keeping me company while I catch up on 5 years of television that’s unsuitable for a child aged 0 to 5 years old while the kid is at school. #itsahardlife
.
I’ve had vertigo for the past week thanks to a suspected inner ear infection, it’s not really stopping me from doing stuff thanks to some medication but why risk it... 😉
  • I’ve pulled out my #100days100blocks2017 @cottonandsteel blocks to get a good look at them before the #100days100blocksfinishalong kicks off 29 April 2018! More details to come - I just couldn’t help but drop that little teaser in there 😉
.
⚠️ The finish-along will be to help those that participated in the previous two block making events turn those blocks into a quilt top BEFORE the next 100 days 100 blocks (block making) event kicks off July 7.
