Spring Make with Michael Miller Fabrics

Michael Miller Fabrics has 3 new lines that are perfect for spring sewing makes; Nature Journal, Flower Girl and Dilly Dahlia. Michael Miller Fabrics sent me some samples to have fun with and because it’s that time of year I decided to whip up some super fun and easy Lined Drawstring Bags (pattern by Jeni Baker – click here to purchase) to use as Easter Break gifts.

I made 2 sizes of the bags; tiny and snack. I figured one could be for kids (tiny) and one for adults (snack). Don’t be fooled, the tiny can hold a whole bag of mini easter eggs!

The snack size will fit a whole bunny, with just the ears poking out the top. The butterfly print from the Nature Journal line was the perfect size for the tiny bag. I teamed these prints with a selection of Cotton Couture, Hash Dot, Dumb Dot and a sneaky little fish print from Acadia.

I love that these are supposedly for Spring, but you can pair them with they right Cotton Couture fabric and suddenly they’ve come over all autumnal. (Handy for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere who celebrate Easter in Autumn!)

But, if pastels are more your jam then never fear because this little print from Flower Girl will have you singing “the hills are alive with the sound of music” before you can get that foil off those eggs!

There’s even a nice little pop of gold metallic in this print that adds a little bling to it!

These lined drawstring bags are so quick and easy to make – especially if you set up a production line and batch each step. You can have so much fun injecting a little bit of your personality into each one by mixing up the fabrics and ribbons you use.
