LIFE | A MOMENT IN TIME

Sometimes life is like a riddle, trying to work out exactly what you should be doing versus what you want to be doing can take you in many a varied and wonderful direction. I’ve been on maternity leave for the past 2 years and I have another 12 months to go before I have to make up my mind about returning back into paid employment.

I have really enjoyed and loved being at home. I love spending every day with my little guy and doing things that keep us both entertained and learning.  I’ve loved having some spare time to do things while he sleeps (although that time is getting even scarce now as he doesn’t sleep during the day or he decides to go for his nap much later in the day).

I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, and quite frankly I don’t want to do much of anything else. I’d love to be bringing in some cash to help support our little brood get where it wants to go, but I’ve come to realise I’d like to do that under my own steam. (Be my own boss!) I have felt this massive pressure for the past 2 years to do something that will make some extra money for our family.

I’ve been pushing myself for the next big idea. Well I finally had it. It’s something I’ve often daydreamed about and something that I think I would be good at, but it requires a massive financial outlay and a huge commitment from our family. While I see the value in it, I also accept that this might not be the time for it.  But that doesn’t mean the dream is dead, it just means I have to take smaller steps and work towards it incrementally.

It’s really exciting to have a goal and have something bigger than you to focus on. It’s going to be a lot of work and a lot of learning, but I’m excited by the prospect. Energized in fact.

Now I bet you’ll wondering what it is and I’d love to tell you, but that will ruin the surprise so instead I’m going to tease you and leave you with this little promise; big things are coming. (And no, it’s not another baby!)
