Link Love: Organisation & Quilt Blocks

That little cold I thought I had under control last week has turned into acute sinusitis and I’ve been laid low for the past 4 or so days. I have a new found appreciation for the modern marvel that is antibiotics. I’m on the mend and taking it easy, but boy what I wouldn’t give for a month free of illness or drama these days. The weather has turned decidedly autumnal despite Canberra hitting an all time high of 31ยฐC last week. I’m loving the cooling down and the foliage changing colours, but I’m bracing myself for a long, dark and cold winter. It’s funny, when I moved here 14 years ago I was so rapt with the changing seasons, but as time has gone on and I’ve gotten older I really struggle with the weather. I need natural light and winter is so dark.
The thing that will get me through is knowing that come October our little family will be jetting off for 4 weeks in the United States. A new adventure for all of us. Every so often I remember that we’re going and a new wave of excitement and trepidation hits me. We’ll be there for the election, which neither of us had considered when booking our flights and I’ve got to say it could be a historic time to be in America.
I keep thinking of all the amazing people I’m going to finally get a chance to meet and exchange a laugh with in person instead of via a computer screen. I’m nervous and excited but I know it’s going to be fabulous. It’s such a rare treat and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with my boys. I haven’t done any more planning since the first flurry of activity and bookings so I really need to get back on to that before it’s too late.
For now though I’m concentrating on getting through my to-do list, taking my antibiotics, getting more vitamins and resting when I can. I hope you have a fabulous week filled with love, laughter and fabric fondling!
