Link Love: Making it a throw down

Well our week took a turn… the little man came home from school on Wednesday with a full blown case of impetigo. It meant that I had a full day of laundry and cleaning on Thursday, he had 2 days at home with his Mum and the school had to send out a we’ve had a contagious kid in our midst email. I’m not complaining because this time last year I was recovering from major surgery and we were about to have a very scary brush with appendicitis. I’ll take contagious bacteria over emergency surgery any day!

In other news I’ve been watching The Great Pottery Throw Down and it’s brilliant! My wonderful mother is a potter and it’s made me wish even more that we lived close so that I could tag along with her into the potting shed. I love these shows that share people’s creative process. I’m also really stoked that Making It is back for another season. I just love Amy and Nick and the sweetness they share between each other and the contestants. I’m grateful to be able to watch/listen to such wonderful tv while I work.

Speaking of work, I’d better get back to my sewing machine. I have SO many quilt blocks to make at the moment and I’m absolutely loving the fussy cutting fun I’m having. On 1 February 2020 I’ll be kicking off the FMM 9 Patch Parade. Each month we’ll be making a project based on a Marti Michell 9 Patch Pattern (as shown above). The 9 Patch block is super simple, as long as you’re working in a measurement divisible by 3. If you want to make them in any other size you’ll need to work in metric! *wink* Well not any more! With the 9 Patch Rulers from Marti Michell you can now make 9 patch blocks in 7 sizes (2″, 3″, 4″, 4.5″, 5″, 6″ and 8″) all without having to do the math. You can use the rulers to strip piece or fussy cut your blocks. It’s genius! I can’t wait to share with you the projects I’ve been making with these rulers and spend 2020 helping you to sew some super awesome projects!
