Are you ready to make a change? I am!

Motivation quote: "Instead of doing nothing because I am overwhelmed I will do something even if it's small because it will be one step closer to my goal." - GnomeAngel.com

Way back in April I read and then wrote about a book called The Miracle Morning (affiliate link). The book is written by Hal Elrod and it lays out a way in which you can start your day with intent and focus on your goals. I read it and implemented the principles in the book and it definitely transformed my life.

I want to get clear right up front that it only transformed my life because I did the work. This book is not going to do the work for you. (In fact, no one is going to do the work for you except you!) It didn’t miraculously change the fundamental fact that I really struggle to get out of my warm cozy bed (no matter the time of day). It didn’t provide some miracle cure for the “I don’t want to’s” and the “I can’t’s”. This book changed the way I think and that in and of itself changed everything else in my life.

I read the book with a somewhat open mind and decided that for once in my life I was going to put aside my judgement and misgivings and I was just going to do what the book suggested for 30 days and see if it actually made a difference. I figured, what’s the harm, it’s only 30 days.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I just made a start. I didn’t wait for all the stars to align and for me to be in the perfect place in my life. I made a start.

Some days I knocked it out of the park and other days I struggled. I tweaked the process and I found a system that worked for me. But at my core I made a commitment to the process and I stuck with it. Even when it was -7°C I got out of bed and did my miracle morning.

In June when I decided to give up Junk Food for a month I surprised myself by not doubting that I could do it. There was no internal debate about whether I could do it or not, I just did it. Sure there were days when I would have happily given my half yard of Melody Miller typewriter print to have a piece of chocolate but I focused on the end goal and I got past it. For the first time in my life I just did something. I didn’t spend days or months listening to the internal dialogue about how I was weak willed and I wasn’t meant to go without and wah, wah, wah, excuse after excuse. I just did it.

I achieved something that only a few months before hand I would have said was impossible and I believe it was because of the fundamental shift that I put into motion when I made that commitment to the 30 day challenge. By proving to myself that I could do something as simple as getting out of bed each morning at a set time and working through a morning process I proved to myself that I could do whatever I wanted in a way I’d not done in the past.

Now I’m sure I was laying the foundation to this shift in my thinking for the months (and probably years) before reading that book and committing to the challenge, but as I’ve now fallen off the wagon where my Miracle Morning is concerned I know that this process has become the cornerstone to achievement where I’m concerned.

In June I may have kicked it out of the park where avoiding junk food was concerned, but I fell off the wagon where my miracle morning was concerned. I got cocky. I started to think that I could do everything I had been doing without the need for my morning ritual. I travelled, I got sick and I lost my way.

I stopped doing my Miracle Morning.

I thought that the thing that was keeping me on track was The Five Minute Journal (affiliate link) – and it was, but it was because I was doing it as part of my Miracle Morning routine. On it’s own it kept me going for much longer than had I have if I’d ditched everything and just proceeded as I had before my Miracle Mornings (only now I get up earlier).

For me, The Miracle Morning (affiliate link) and The Five Minute Journal (affiliate link) have been key in getting me to a place in my life where I feel confident, capable and motivated to do the things that I’ve only been talking about. It’s time I got back on the wagon if I want to keep achieving.

I need public accountability to stay on track and so today I’m pledging that I will be recommitting to my Miracle Mornings (and Junk Free-ness) by doing the 30 Day Challenge. For the next 30 days I will wake each day and do my Miracle Morning. For the next 30 days I will not eat junk food.

When I wrote about The Miracle Morning (affiliate link) and The Five Minute Journal (affiliate link) and shared it on Instagram I had a lot of questions from people who were curious about it. It was great – I love to share what I’m reading, doing and who’s inspiring me. I know that there were people who at the time wanted to try something like this, and I strongly encouraged that.

This time however I’m going to help you out a little more. For those of you that want to join me and take the 30 Day Challenge I’ve set up a specific mailing list where each day you will get sent straight to your inbox a reading suggestion, an exercise, a goal, a podcast, a printable, a quote – something to help you keep motivated and stay on track while you undertake your own Miracle Morning journey.

I can’t do the Miracle Morning for you and I can’t make the changes that you need to make to succeed in whatever goal you have, but I can walk with you and support you as best I can.
