The Guidelines + Rules

The first rule of these groups is: BE KIND, BE NICE & BE ENCOURAGING! The second rule is that the responsibility to be across the rules of the group is on the member, not the Admin Team. We will post regular reminders and notices in the group to try and ensure that everyone is given the best possible opportunity to be across the rules. We will assume that you have read the rules and may remove or delete posts without warning based on this assumption. It’s nothing personal I promise, it’s just the most efficient way for us to run a group of this size and complexity. Thank you for your understanding.

GENERAL

The purpose of this group is to share, encourage and connect with fellow creatives who are participating in sewing the Farmer’s Wife 1920’s and 1930’s Sampler Quilt blocks.

COPYRIGHT

Please be mindful of copyright. DO NOT POST INFORMATION ABOUT BLOCK DIMENSIONS, ETC. IN THE GROUP.

If you would like to know this information please purchase the book/pattern or get a copy from your local library.

Do not upload template files to the group.

Do not share information that would violate the author/pattern writers copyright.

Please be respectful of the time and effort that is involved in writing a book/pattern, the conversion charts, etc. and do not post it in this group. If in doubt ask an Admin privately if it’s ok.

There’s a lot of information about on the WWW about copyright and what constitutes an infringement. Please be thoughtful about how you use your inspiration and if in doubt contact the original maker/designer and talk to them about it.

Please be respectful of copyright. Photos showing the construction method or cutting instructions from the book/pattern will be deleted from the group. Thank you for your understanding.

POSTING TO THE GROUP

Please keep posts in the group directly related to Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Sew-along (with the exclusion of plugging your business, swap, product, alternative FB group, teaching event or any other form of self promotion). Whether you’re sharing your work or asking a question about Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Sew-along. Posts not related to Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Sew-along may be deleted at the discretion of the Admins and members removed from the group. If you would like to share an event, workshop, another FB Group, swap, product or business please contact hello@gnomeangel.com – there is no guarantee that information will be shared, it’s at the discretion of the group admin.

SHARING LINKS

Please only share links that provide an answer to a question that has been asked on the group wall or on the designated link posts as they arise. This is a group for sharing your work as it relates directly to the Farmer’s Wife Sew-along, not for drumming up website traffic or sales. Sharing of your work from another Facebook page is not acceptable in this group. It is considered spam and will be deleted and the member removed. If you want to share your work in the group please do so directly to the group not via your own FB page.

BLOGGERS

This is not the forum to share links to your blogs. We love and support bloggers and you will have a chance to share your links on the Sunday Link Party posts at www.gnomeangel.com. Any blogger found to be posting their links to this group outside of the group guidelines will have the link deleted and be removed from the group. Please respect that this is a group specifically for the sew-along.

SHARING IMAGES

Please share your work as it relates to the Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt sew-along. We all love a good sew and tell. That’s what this place is all about. Share, share and more share!

Please be respectful of copyright. Photos showing the construction method or cutting instructions from the book/pattern will be deleted from the group and the member may be removed. Thank you for your understanding.

PHOTOS

Please stick to the group rules when posting. Photos not in line with the group guidelines may be removed without warning or notice. Consistent breaches of the rules may result in a member being removed from the group.

1. Photos can be posted to the wall, but our preference would be for you to use the albums that have been specifically created for each block. Please, do not create personal albums. Personal albums will be deleted and the member may be removed.

2. We are unable to provide IT Support to help you work out how to use the albums given our limited resources and the multitude of devices, etc. on the market. But, here’s some handy links to help files from the Facebook team: How to upload a photo to a group

To save confusion within the group blocks posted to the wall that have not been released yet WILL BE deleted without warning. (If there’s no ‘Official Album’ for the block you want to share that’s a good sign it hasn’t been released yet.)

DO NOT CREATE PERSONAL PHOTO ALBUMS IN THE GROUP – PERSONAL PHOTO ALBUMS WILL BE DELETED.

COMMENTING

Please think before you comment – is this comment uplifting and encouraging? Constructive feedback can be both those things if you take a quick minute to think about it. Admins will respond to questions where applicable and work to come to an understanding with all involved. However, the decision of the admin is final and where applicable anyone found to be instigating flame wars will be removed from the group.

BUMPING

Please do not “bump” posts. We understand that the group wall moves fast and you may have something that you would like someone to respond to that’s getting lost in the information. Please tag a member of the admin team on the post and one of us will respond to you. Members found to be bumping posts may be removed from the group.

LINKS TO BUSINESSES

Links to businesses, unless in context of a response to a question posed by a member, will be deleted and the member posting them removed from the group. Love for you to share where you find great products, have great service, etc. but this is not a place for drumming up business. For the purpose of this group workshops, retreats, classes, etc. are deemed to be a business – regardless of whether they’re free or charged attendance. If you would like to share an event, workshop, another FB Group, swap, product or business please contact hello@gnomeangel.com – no guarantee that information will be shared, it’s at the discretion of the group admin.

SELLING IN THE GROUP

Please do not post items for sale in the group. If you have a book, templates, etc. that you’d like to offer for sale. Please contact an Admin to have them organise the posting of the information.

COMPLAINTS

At the end of the day we’re all human and mistakes happen – so please give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but if you’d like to talk to someone about something that’s happened please contact an admin privately to do so.

A NOTE ABOUT THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE GROUP

This group was set up to be a place to share about the Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Sew-along. The group is managed by volunteers who do so on top of all their other priorities and commitments. The group runs at the pleasure of the administration team. We ask that you show consideration of the amount of effort and work that goes into running a smooth group. The admin team works hard to keep spam to a minimum, to make sure members aren’t being bombarded with posts wanting their hard earned cash and to ensure that the group is a place where people feel safe sharing their work. The Admins are human – they have good days, bad days and everything in between just like you. We try our best and where mistakes are made we will do our best to rectify it. We just ask that you be kind, respectful and patient.

If you could like to discuss something further please email Angie Wilson on hello@gnomeangel.com.
