SEA BREEZE MINI QUILT-A-LONG

This month I’m hosting my first ever quilt-a-long and I’d love for you to be involved. I’ve chosen the Sea Breeze Mini Quilt by Canoe Ridge Creations.
It’s a 9 block quilt that’s made up of squares and half square triangles (HST) – simple. The finished quilt measures 22ยฝ” square. A great size for those that want to perfect their quilting on a domestic machine – not a lot of bulk to try and maneuver under the machine.
[pullquote width=”300″ float=”left”]Wondering what a quilt-a-long is? It’s simply where a group of people make the same quilt at the same time. It’s a great way to stay motivated, learn new techniques and make new friends.[/pullquote]
The quilt-a-long will kick off on the 21 July here on my blog.
This means you have 2 weeks to grab the pattern (you can buy it here) and select your fabrics. To help you with your pattern selection I’m going to be listing some fabric kits this week in Shop GnomeAngel. There’s even going to be a sale to help you get even more fabric for your buck. Just sign up to my Newsletter, Gnome Gnews, to get notified of when it’s on.
We’ll all start making our Sea Breeze Mini Quilt‘s on 21 July and then on Friday 25 July there will be a progress link up on Ms Midge and then again with Cassie Madge on Wednesday 30 July.
The final reveal, and end to the quilt-a-long, will be on Saturday 2 August back here. I’ll be posting a link party where you can link to your final quilt on either your blog or via Instagram. Too simple. (Don’t know what a link party is, you can read about them here.)
So that’s 2 weeks to make your mini quilt. Don’t worry if you’ve never made one before, or you’d like some company in your sewing room, there’s going to be some fabulous people both blogging and instagramming to keep you company, motivated and trouble shoot.
Today I’m going to share with you the bloggers that will be writing about their quilts, next week I’ll be sharing who the Instagrammers will be.

Neat mini quilt! I’m a little late to the party and went to check out the pattern, I was confused cause the page you linked to made no mention of the price of the pattern.
Hi Terri Ann – the price is US$6.50, hope this helps.
okay, I’m in!
Count me in! Thanks little white dove!
YAY im in ..im a beginner to quilting but excited ..AND its my birthday on that day great day to sew..I didn’t know your in Australia woohoo off to buy me a kit
This is going to be fun! If only I could decide on my colours…..should have shopped more at Sydney Quilt Show
Hmmmm… You make a compelling argument for it in terms of being a good learning experience to practice skills I don’t yet have… I better tottle off & see about that pattern!
And it’s purchased! I’m in!
Doesn’t “no buy July” prevent us from buying patterns as well???
I bought that pattern when Megan was having a sale last month. Plus, I organised this way before I knew about no buy July so I’m hoping people will make a tiny exception and spend the US$6.50 to get the pattern. (May put a dampener on the July sale I had planned though…)
No firm commitment but I did just buy the pattern so am one step closer
Come to the Darkside, Sharon – we have lush fabrics! ๐ ๐
This sounds great and I would love to join in too!
Awesome! Can’t wait to see your mini! ๐
Can I participate even if I can’t start until the 24th. Or should I wait until the next time you do this?
Hi Debbi – you sure can! You don’t even have to have it completed in the 2 week period, it’s just a time frame for you to have fun working with others. Look forward to seeing your mini! ๐
I will participate in the Sea Breeze Mini quiltalong!
Hi Pamela – that’s awesome ๐
