SPONSORED | BACK TO WORK WITH TARGET

As we come out of the festive season and start the new year it’s time for most people to head back to work.  I’m technically still on maternity leave and so I’m lucky enough to still be in the clutches of the couch, however my girlfriends aren’t as lucky.

Because I’m such a great friend, and I love to find bargains, I took the opportunity to break free of the couch’s clutches this past weekend and head out for some retail therapy with a girlfriend that’s heading back to work very soon.

Pre-Little Man her and I used to try and catch some quality girl time together hitting the stores browsing and gossiping. When we worked together it was heaps easier, but now we’re having to plan our trips in advance. Our favourite place to hunt for bargains has always been Target.  (95% of my wardrobe is from Target!) It got to the point where the two of us had to try and coordinate what we were wearing to work so that we didn’t wear the same Target bargains on the same day.

(Turns out we had a near miss on this shopping expedition because I was wearing the City Dressing Shirred Waist Blouse in Blue with Women’s Basic Crop Jeans in Rinsewash and she was going to wear City Dressing Zigzag Pleat Front Dress – can you say awkward!  PS. I told you I wear a lot of Target!)

I still love to browse the Target City Dressing and Limited Edition ranges when I’m in the store and dream about the outfits I could pull together to wear at work.  While I might not be rushing to stock the wardrobe with work apparel my girlfriend is and so I happily played (a burger eating) Rachel Zoe to her Gisele Bundchen.

We both work for a large Government Department so the work dress code is “corporate”.  We both love the mix and match basics from Target.  For a little bit of office chic we paired a Limited Editions Pleated Front Top in Crown Jewel (how divine is that purple!), with a Limited Editions Pencil Skirt with Dart Detailing and a City Dressing Black Suit Jacket. The shoes are also from Target, they’re Jess Leather High Heel Dress Shoes in Black.

Both of us love a good dress that you can wear into the office and we both went gaga for this great pleated dress.  We teamed it with the Jess Leather High Heel Dress Shoes in Black and Orange Leather Handbag. (How awesome is orange leather? I am seriously crushing on orange at the moment!)

While we were in the store I took the opportunity to browse some of Target‘s homewares.  You see, while I might not be technically returning to work I am now starting to work from home and I desperately need a functioning workspace so that I can stay organised.

…see what did I tell you I was wearing Target teamed with my Little Paper Lane handbag…

I found this great Wall Clock with Chalkboard. So handy – not only does it tell you the time (important when you’re running late to everything like I normally am) but it also allows you to record reminders (for those events that I’m always running late for).

I also fell in love with this Mirrored Jewellery Box in Silver. While it’s technically a jewellry box I thought it would work a treat for storing all of my stamps, cards and washi tape. There’s also a matching little storage box that would be great for storing pin board pins, paper clips or lose coin. Not only are they handy storage but they also work great as a makeup mirror or as an early warning system for when someone is sneaking up behind you while you’re working on the computer. (Tell me I’m not the only one that gets so engrossed with Pinterest that they fail to hear or see their spouse coming up behind them until it’s too late!)

I also fell in love with this Life Framed Wall Print. I just thought it was a great reminder to have hanging in my workspace to ensure I don’t spend too much time on my trusty computer.

Whether you’re going back to work like my friend Gisele Bundchen or working from home like me you can find some great items at Target.

    1. What do you wear in your day job? Do you go comfy casual? I think it would be a hard balance given the nature of your work…

You’d totally rock a corporate wardrobe! Next photo shoot want to be my model? 😉

  1. I enjoyed this blog post so much …. I’m wondering if you are looking to get a payment of royalties from Target, given that you have just given them a great free advert. Sounds like you and your friend had lots of fun.
