Holy wow, #100Days100Blocks2018 is massive! The hashtag is growing at over 1,000 images a day and more and more people seem to be joining up every day which is fabulous! I’ve had such a blast this past 15 days surfing the hashtag, looking at all the eye candy, meeting new people and doing new things. I can’t wait to see where we’re all at by the end of this event. Every 5 days after a segment of blocks finishes I’ll be announcing the winners for that section. (Have you printed out the free event tracker so you know when the prizes will be announced? I really wish I could give everyone a prize for participating. The entries are amazing and the quilts being made are each unique and a reflection of the person making them. Winners details are below and so is a round up of my first ten blocks for this years event.

My #100Days100Blocks2018 Blocks
This is the first quilt I’ve ever made that’s all Tula Pink fabric (supplemented with Free Spirit solids). I must confess it was a difficult make for me. The prints are so big and bold that trying to contain them in a 6″ blocks can be a little overwhelming. I’ve also struggled with the colour palette as it’s not a grouping of colours I’d normally work predominantly in. I have a massive fabric stash and a lot of it is Tula, but I rarely use it in big amounts. I find it great for adding interest and detail, I just don’t like to be swamped in it. This quilt is slowly changing me of that opinion. I can see myself using more Tula and mixing it a little more boldly in future.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my blocks in one spot. If you’d like to see some even more amazing blocks be sure to check out the hashtag #100Days100Blocks2018 and leave some comments on people’s blocks. You never know, your thoughtful, encouraging and uplifting comment could just be the thing that helps someone fall in love with sewing and quilting.
