Cover Girl | Rainbow Satchel
I’m so thrilled, excited and humbled to see that this month’s Handmade Magazine has featured the Rainbow Satchel that I designed and made on their cover. Handmade Magazine can be purchased in Woolworths which means that my Rainbow Satchel will be rubbing shoulders with latest celebrity cellulite and rehab stories as well my favourite foodie magazine Donna Hay. Très exciting!
I designed this satchel to be the perfect size to pop my 13″ Macbook Pro laptop into when it’s in it’s zipper pouch and it still has room for a notepad, pens, keys and iPhone. And because it wouldn’t be me without it I fussy cut the fabrics and used them to make a rainbow of awesome.
The main fabric in the bag is Robert Kaufman Essex Linen in Natural. I’ve quilted the panel inside for extra stability and I used a cotton canvas print from Spotlight for the lining to add some fun and a extra pop of colour.
I made a matching key fob using my tutorial (click here for tutorial) out of the canvas. I also used some unusual hardware on the handle… these are carabiner‘s which you can find at your local hardware store. They’re so handy as you can clip things into them, like your keys, to help keep them from getting lost at the bottom of your bag.
It’s so exciting to know that I made that satchel and now it’s on the cover of a magazine that’s available for other people to purchase and make for themselves. However, if you’ve not got the time or you’d rather have the original I’ve listed it for sale – click here to purchase.
As well as the cover of Handmade Magazine I’ve also been interviewed in Down Under Quilts as their blogger to meet. The interview was heaps of fun to do and I’m so glad I was able to share the spotlight with some of my favourite quilty bloggers and fabulous longarmers.
What an amazing month my birthday month has been so far, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the month has in store!

Hi Angie! I have been out of pocket for a couple of weeks and just seeing this. You are so sweet to offer, but I agree it would likely be cost prohibitive! I am hoping I will luck into finding it somewhere someday, though! Take care and enjoy Craft Alive! Sounds like fun!
