Link Love: A New Place to Rest our Butts

Exciting day in the gnome home – our new couch is being delivered today! The last time we bought a couch we were just married, we didn’t have a kid and we had two dogs instead of now having two cats. Our old couch has seen as through so much; hours of watching tv and movies, lost needles from hand stitching, spills from little hands, claw marks from the newest additions and lots of laughter and snuggles. It’s been a great couch. However it’s turned from a lovely stone/beige colour to a horrid bluey brown from the constant wear of the past. It’s also all bent out of shape, cracking and now splitting where the cats have been stretching their claws.

Our new couch is a lovely grey fabric number that sees us return to a standard couch configuration. (Are we the only ones that thought we’d use a chaise only to find we sat in the same places all the time??) I’ve also been extra spoilt and gotten myself an armchair to go with the couch. I’m looking forward to being able to sit in a comfortable place and stitch my Farmer’s Wife blocks without having to share my space with two lads who have a tendency to bump the hand with my needle in it… a lot!

Yesterday we prepared the lounge room for it’s new arrival which meant having to pull everything out of it, rearrange the tv cabinet position, a trip to Ikea, a trip to Bunnings and generally throwing the house into disrepute. I also thought it would be smart to start making replacement cushions for the new couch so now my sewing space looks like the rest of the house – a mess! I’m going to spend today while the lads are out of the house going through and getting things back in order.

But the only way that’s all going to happen is if I get off the computer and get on with my day! Wishing you a week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!
