In my biography 2017 will get a chapter all of it’s own. I feel like this year has just been one big lesson, but I’m not sure exactly what that lesson is just yet. It’s been a hard year for me mentally. We’ve been dealing with family issues and then coupled with things in the business having their own twists and turns I’ve struggled at times to make heads or tails of it all. The week after Market really kicked my butt. I needed to retreat and hide from the world while I regrouped and processed all the emotions and thoughts I was having. It’s been a hard week, but I’m better for it. Over the coming months things will start to be revealed and new directions will emerge and that’s both exciting and nerve wracking.
We’re also coming up to the end of the school year and it’s bringing it’s own set of challenges with it. I’m not going to lie, I’m worried about how I’ll manage to keep the business ticking over while the school holidays happen. I see a lot of compromise ahead and I struggle with that at the best of times. I feel somewhat better though after returning from Market to find HUBBY lamenting trying to work from home while balancing the needs of a five year old. It’s not an easy gig and I know I’m not alone in being someone who works from home in an attempt to balance family needs with economical ones. I often think about how my Mum managed with two kids and working in our family business. I find myself at times thinking “What would Mum do?” when things get particularly tricky. I have a feeling I’ll be channeling my inner gnome Mum over the coming months while we look towards a new school year.
This week I’m working on class samples and trying to get a few loose ends tied up so I can focus on getting everything organised for 2018. I have a big list of events planned, as well as writing my second book and all it entails. Plus there’s a calendar of teaching events that’s starting to grow (as well as my nerves about it!). I’m starting to get excited about 2018, I just need to make it through the rest of 2017 without going insane. I guess I’d better get a wriggle on and start sorting through my inbox and getting things back under control. Wishing you a fabulous day filled with love, laughter and fabric fondling!
