Link Love: Change your Password at least once in 17 Years

This year just keeps on giving. Last week was filled with super highs and super lows. On Monday the internal ceiling of our external carport collapsed (Picture A). Seems all this super dry and then super wet weather took its toll and the ceiling just couldn’t stay up any longer. Not a big drama as we have insurance, shame it took them a week to tell us they wouldn’t cover it and the ceiling has been exposed and dangerous all that time because they told us not to touch it that they’d take care of it. *sigh* It’s meant a week’s delay in getting someone in to look at getting it fixed, but thankfully it’s all on track now and should be fixed shortly.

Last week I also found out that the email account I’ve had for 17+ years was hacked and the hacker stole my Instagram and Facebook accounts. Thankfully I found out in time and was able to wrangle it all back. But it’s meant a week of lost time sitting at the computer going through and finding all the things that I’ve used that email account for and either changing the email address, changing the password or deleting it altogether. It also meant that I was stuck in a limbo of not having access to anything which meant another week of work just grinding to a standstill. (Don’t worry, they only got access to my personal stuff – none of the business stuff was impacted so your email is super safe!)

The class I booked at Addicted 2 Fabric way back in 2019 was held last week as well, which was a complete and utter joy. I got to spend 2 days with the most amazing and lovely people as well as playing with fabrics and learning a new technique. (You can see what I made down in the Link Love section.) I was so emboldened by my class success that I signed up to do the Addicted 2 Fabric Block of the Month for 2020 designed by Kerry Gavin (Picture B). I think there may be one or two spots left in the class, so if you’d like to join me give the team at A2F a call and come sew all year with me!

We said good bye to the massive gum tree in our backyard last week as well (Picture C). It was bittersweet to see it go, but when the big electrical storm rolled into town a day later I was relieved we’d had it removed. It was over 3 storeys high with a forked base and sat right on the fence line close to our house and our neighbours house – despite how much I would have loved to have kept it, it was the right call to make. It took under 3 hours to have it completely removed which is kind of sad because it would have taken 30+ years to grow to that size.

So much has happened this year and we’re not even out of February. I went into this year thinking that I would conquer the world and so far all I’ve managed to do is get an ongoing lesson in patience, trust and being content. (I’m not doing too well at any of those things so I see more lessons in my future!) Wishing you a fabulous week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!

Week 3 of the 9 Patch Parade started this week. It’s all about sharing what you’re making and I can’t wait to see what you’re getting up to. You can check out the twist that my project has taken by clicking here.

Each month we’ll be making a project based on a Marti Michell 9 Patch Pattern (as shown above). The 9 Patch block is super simple, as long as you’re working in a measurement divisible by 3. If you want to make them in any other size you’ll need to work in metric! *wink* Well not any more! With the 9 Patch Rulers from Marti Michell you can now make 9 patch blocks in 7 sizes (2″, 3″, 4″, 4.5″, 5″, 6″ and 8″) all without having to do the math. You can use the rulers to strip piece or fussy cut your blocks. It’s genius!
