Link Love: Happy 1st of the Month

It’s the first day of a new year, right? At least that’s what it feels like at the moment. I’m entering March having a couple of big ticket items ticked off the list that I’ve been struggling to get done since December and it’s made a huge difference to my outlook. I’m practically bouncing. There’s so much in this newsletter that it’s taken me a little longer than normal to put it together. I hope you find one or two (or even more) things that you can get involved in, get excited about and get motivated by.

Last week I headed intoย Addicted 2 Fabricย do the first of the 2020 BoM classes. I confess I’m a little intimidated by learning a new technique but I’m excited by the challenge. The quilt is all quilt-as-you-go and machine applique. I’ve got some homework to do in the next 4 weeks and I’m determined not to leave it to the last minute. I’m just waiting on some supplies to turn up so I can start to have some fun. Have you learned a new technique lately? I’d love to hear about how it went if you’re up for sending me an email (click here to email me).

I’m also starting a new course this week as well which I’m super excited about. It’s a skill set that I’ve been slowly chipping away at in the past couple of years but I’m ready to do something more formal with it so I took a big chance and signed up for an online course by someone I respect. I want to share more, but I also want to keep it a little close to my chest for now as I’m really nervous about putting it out there and sharing it with the world. It feels really fragile still.

In other news I’m going to ease back on social commitments this month. I feel like last month was FULL of things to do with the church, and with school and work and I just need to breathe for a bit and get some of my own space back. While there’s something immensely satisfying about crossing things off the calendar there’s also something lovely about not having a full calendar breathing down your back. Wishing you a fabulous week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!

Week 4 of the 9 Patch Parade started this week. It’s all about sharing what you’ve made. I’m just finishing up my project now (need to get it quilted and turned into a cushion). I’ll be sharing it this week.

Each month we’ll be making a project based on a Marti Michell 9 Patch Pattern (as shown above). The 9 Patch block is super simple, as long as you’re working in a measurement divisible by 3. If you want to make them in any other size you’ll need to work in metric! *wink* Well not any more! With the 9 Patch Rulers from Marti Michell you can now make 9 patch blocks in 7 sizes (2″, 3″, 4″, 4.5″, 5″, 6″ and 8″) all without having to do the math. You can use the rulers to strip piece or fussy cut your blocks. It’s genius! I can’t wait to share with you the projects I’ve been making with these rulers and spend 2020 helping you to sew some super awesome projects! Click here to read all about the event, or click here to purchase the rulers.
