Link Love: Milestones & New Adventures

This week our Little Man turns 4. I know every parents says it, so why should I be any different, but I don’t know where the time has gone. I feel like I blinked and he was a toddler and now he’s a little boy. It’s been a hell of an adventure. I’ve learned so much about myself, the human race and about this little person whom now carries my heart. I’m excited to spend this week celebrating his birthday, boring him with tales of “this time 4 years ago” and just enjoying being with him.
My parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this week. I cannot begin to fathom what forty years of marriage would be like. I’m assuming it’s kind of what ten years of marriage feels like only with more aches and pains and less nappies (or maybe it will be more???). I wish I could be with them to celebrate, but I’ll just have to be thankful for FaceTime and make the most of it.
This week will also beย my first full week of being self-employed. That’s right, I resigned from my job last week. After 20+ years in the public service, a job I dreamed of since I was in Grade 7, I left to pursue my own dreams. I can’t believe the difference that knowing that I don’t have to cram everything in because there’s going to be a big chunk of my time where I can’t workย has made. I’ve felt my creativity coming back, I’ve made plans to catch up with friends we haven’t seen in what feels like years and I’m positively glowing.
I know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re in it together and I’m the master of my own destiny. I have some big ticket items I want to close off in June and then I’m on to planning and charting my course. It’s all possibilities and that’s exciting.
I’d write more, but I have a sewing machine I need to spend some quality time with, you understand, right? I hope you have a fabulous day!
