January has started really well in our house. We’ve had a week together as a little family doing our thing and enjoying the relaxed time together. I’ve been sewing, pottering and laughing and it’s been fabulous. As much as I didn’t want to take a break, I really needed the break and I’m glad I did it, but today is my first (official) day back in the office and I have a mountain of things I want to follow up, get started, finish and just generally have a play with. It’s an exciting time and I love the renewed energy that a new year brings.
Kristy and I are working on our 2018 Block of the Month for our pattern label Quarter Inch of Quirk. It’s been really interesting to see how our design process has taken shape with this one. Release the Kraken just seemed to happen organically, but this one has been a bit more of a challenge for me. I don’t really know myself well enough as a designer to just trust what I’m doing so I spend a lot of time second guessing my decisions so it’s great to have someone who I trust to bounce ideas off of. I’m excited about the pattern we’ve come up with. It’s got some new to me design elements and it’s going to be a fun one to make.
I’ve been working on my new habits for the past week – regularly daily exercise, no junk food and no soft drink. It’s been… interesting. I’ve been using my instagram stories to stay accountable for my daily exercise and it’s been a good way to prompt myself to make sure I do the exercise. I’ve also been good on the food and drink front. I find habit is my worst trait when it comes to both of these things. I have trained myself when I’m doing certain things to eat/drink. It’s horrible. I’m working at retraining my body and mind so that I’m not always using food as a boredom buster and I’m not drinking Coke Zero when I’m working. It’s going to be interesting to see how things go now we’re all headed back to work.
Speaking of which, I really should get a move on. In an attempt to save money we’re now carpooling which means I have to drive HUBBY to work today. I’m not sure how effective this is going to be, but I think the time together in the car as a family could be quite amusing. Wishing you a fabulous day filled with love, laughter and fabric fondling.
