Link Love: Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away

Sometimes you’ve just got to run away to save your sanity. Wednesday of last week the Little Man and I boarded a flight and flew off into the sunset to spend a lovely 10 days with my parents in sunny Townsville. We’re still (hopefully) in Townsville and because of that I’ve scheduled this post so I’m writing to you in the future from the past. Gotta love technology!

For those of you following along in the ever exciting (clap for sarcasm) journey that is becoming my health you’ll be interested (not the right word I’m sure…) to know that my long wished for hysterectomy has been delayed by a month because of my recent visit to the ER. The lovely surgeons who will be performing my hysterectomy felt that given the pressure that an infection of this nature puts on the body, plus the fact that they’d have to move the bowel, etc. to get to everything meant that it would be safer for all involved if we waited to make sure that everything was as it should be before going in there. Which is completely understandable and probably the smartest course of action.

I’m a little… frustrated about it all. Not from any place of logic, it’s all totally illogical because at the end of the day I want to get out of it all alive, but it’s just another month of dreading something and dealing with the mental game that is impending major surgery. So, because I can, I ran off to the tropics. The little kid that lives quiet happily inside of me wanted to see her Dad. When life throws you a curve ball it’s always Dad that stays and looks after the business and the house and Mum comes to sit by your side. It’s great and it’s what you want in the immediacy of everything, but as things settle down I miss my father something fierce and so always find myself wanting to be closer to him.

The impromptu visit home means that things in the business are on hold for a week or so until I’m back – but that’s the beauty of working for yourself in some ways. (The flip of that is that when you’re sick you still have to turn up to work because there’s no sick pay or someone to cover your work for you!) So, if you’re looking for me I’m soaking in the sunshine and laughing with my folks and ignoring what’s waiting for me when I get home. Wishing you a week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!

I love to share the cool things that I find during my week of surfing the internet window-shopping and splurging. Here’s my top 4 from this week:

D: I’m reminding: If you haven’t added some of the iconic Kerchief Girls to your collection you need to do so now. Click here to purchase this on Etsy.

  1. So sorry you’ve been having such an awful time healthwise, Angie, but hope some time away with your dad has left you feeling better on an emotional level, at least. x
