Link Love: Shop Girl
Yesterday was a public holiday in Canberra and so I enjoyed a much needed day with the boys. Our soon-to-be 7yo has shared with us his love of Minecraft and so the three of us tend to lose hours together building things (and then blowing them up) and exploring together. It’s funny how working together in a gaming environment has shown me so much about our personalities and our parental shortcomings. I find it so hard to not let my frustrations show when he happily plows through an area I’ve been working. It’s been a great lesson in humility, patience and kindness. Shame I’m not that great a student sometimes.
Our little shop has been booming these past weeks and I’ve been run off my feet working to get orders shipped, answer emails, do customer outreach and try to keep on top of things. I really love running the shop and sometimes I like to think that I would have been a great little shop keep in years gone by. The only downside to a busy shop is that I’ve taken my focus off a few other areas, so I’m keen for some time in the sewing room and office this week to help get things back on track.
This week is also filled with a lovely milestone; our son turns 7. Hard to think that 8 years ago we were going through our 6th year of IVF. We had made the decision that it would be our final attempt at conceiving and if it didn’t work then we would do other things with our life. The Lord had other ideas because He blessed us with our son and at the same time lead me to a quilting class and the rest they say is history!
It’s so lovely to have my quilting journey linked to our Son. As he grows and we count off his milestones I quietly use it as a reminder of my own milestones. I like to take the time to pause and be thankful for all that I’ve been blessed with because of my love of creating with fabric and thread. I’ve traveled the world, I’ve met amazing people, I’ve done things I never thought I would be capable of and I’ve fondled some pretty amazing fabrics.
It’s also brought me here to this spot – 20 days out from #100Days100Blocks2019 kicking off and into your inbox. Thank you for being part of this amazing journey! Thank you for your support, your good humour, your encouragement and your perseverance. I know that sometimes it feels like we’re all just pixels on a screen, but the connections that this medium provides are real and rewarding and I want to thank you for being part of that.
Enough sentimentality. If I’m not careful I’ll be crying at my keyboard (again!) and freaking Hubby out (again!). Wishing you a week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!
