If you’d like to make a piece of patchwork fabric to use to make your patchwork key fob you’re going to need a selection of fabrics to make your 5″ x 10″ piece of fabric.
For this tutorial I made a strip piece of fabric, like this:
Because I’m a fan of fussy cutting I’m going to share with you how I managed to get my little gnome to line up with the exposed front of the patchwork key fob.
Grab your template plastic, ruler and permanent marker.
Use the ruler to cut out a piece of plastic that measures 10″ x 5″.
Mark a line at 1¼”, 5″ and 6¼”.
These will be the fold lines of your patchwork key fob.
The middle two segments will be the front and the back of the patchwork key fob. Keep in mind that when you bend the strap to make the loop one of those sides will be inside the loop and therefore will not be seen (unless you get up close and personal with the key fob – it’s a great way to hide a little message in there for the recipient).
