MEET JANELLE WIND
7. Who’s the quilter(s) that inspire you at the moment?
That’s a really tough question. Being a designer myself, I try very hard not to look too closely at the work of other designers. I want to remain true to me and my style and not even accidentally be influenced by the style of another designer. That being said, I am totally inspired by many of the modern quilters out there. Their is SO much talent in this industry and so many wonderful up and coming designers, I do feel like the grandmother of the group a lot of the time.
8. What quilting challenges would you like to conquer in the next 12 months?
I would like to make more quilts for me, purely for fun. I am inspired by so many modern pieced quilts and while I love writing and making my own designs, sometimes making something purely for the fun of it is necessary too. I hope to make lots of quilts purely for fun.

9. What are your 3 favourite quilts that you’ve made that reflect who you are as a quilter?
I think the most favourite of my quilts that I have made would have to be my Block of the Month, Little Bluebirds. I am super proud of this quilt. I love the stitchery component, I love that I completed all of the applique in needleturn and I love the colours that it is made from too. My second favourite is a tie between Candy Girl and Forest Hill. These are companion quilts so are designed to match or compliment one another. Thirdly, my other favourite is almost always the quilt I am currently working on. I have just finished (today) a quilt using Emma Jean Jansen’s new range, The Linen Cupboard for Quilters Companion. I adore this range of fabric and love my new design. I can’t wait for it to hit stores next March.
10. If you weren’t a quilter, what other creative endeavour would you like to master?
I have always always wanted to be an interior designer. So I think if I wasn’t a quilter, I would like to think that I might be playing with interior design. It’s fun to dream.

So lovely to get to know the beautiful Janelle a bit better! She would make one heck of an interior designer… I’ll happily be her guinea pig! She has immaculate taste and sense of style!
