SEWVIVOR – GNOMEANGEL – ANGIE WILSON
I’m a huge reality television fan when that reality television involves some sort of competition. My all time favourite reality television shows are Top Chef, Project Runway, The Great British Sewing Bee, The Great British Bake Off and Survivor.
It’s no surprise then that when Sarah Fielke posted on Instagram that Rach from Family Ever After was running a quilting version of Survivor I got so excited that a little bit of wee escaped.
So, in the spirit of all those that have gone before me in the world of reality television I present to you the reasons why I should be the next Sewvivor.
ย My Audition Quilt

My audition quilt is the quilt that changed my life: The Feather Beast; Slayed. I made this quilt top in 2013. The quilt was made using the following pattern: Anna Maria Horner Feather Bed Quilt.

This quilt was only the fourth quilt top I had ever made. I was so under prepared for the work involved or the amount of fabric it would take to make this quilt.

I entrusted this beast of a quilt to Raylee Bielenberg of Sunflower Quilting. Raylee custom quilted this using her A1 Long Arm.

I entered this quilt in the Canberra Quilters Annual Exhibition in 2013 and was blown away with how well it performed.

I really struggled during the making of this quilt. It was a new technique, I’d only been really sewing for about 6 months and I had no idea what I was doing.
It broke me down and made me doubt myself in ways I hadn’t quite realized until after it was hanging in the Exhibition.
This quilt represents a few crucial quilting lessons that I needed to learn to progress in my quilting journey.ย My life has not been the same since making this quilt.
This quilt taught me that I am a quilter, quilting is one of my biggest passions in life and I’m proud of that. My quilting journey is just starting and I’m so excited about all the possibilities that it holds.

Angie, what a beautiful quilt, congratulations, but your video… fantastic, made me laugh a lot
Thanks so much Susana ๐
The quilt is spectacular! Your video made my year LOL!
Thanks Katy! I had fun making it – have some more ideas for videos ticking over in my head… ๐
Wow, amazing quilt, good luck, but I don’t think you need it, your audition piece is out of this world!
Gorgeous quilt and quilting!!
Thanks Jade! ๐

Thanks Leanne. LOL, that was my hope – a little slap stick comedy is good for the soul. ๐ ๐
I love your sense of humor and your quilt is awesome. That pattern has been on my radar for a while! The quilting on it is also terrific! Good luck!
Thanks Hilda! I recommend doing the pattern if you’re looking for a challenge. It certainly stretched my newbie quilting skills. ๐
Your video is hilarious! And that quilt is gorgeous!!
Thanks Chrissy ๐
I hope you get picked….your awesomeness needs more exposure. So funny that video….Can we vote you in?
Thanks Jo – not at this stage, the judges have to pick their top 16 and then if I make it into the game there will be voting for projects I make. Will keep you updated ๐
Holy Hannah! I’m in love! You’re amazing. One of my favorite peices I’ve ever seen. You’re rocking it. Best of luck to you getting selected! You deserve it!

Thanks Rachel! I wanted to have fun with it – huge fan of reality television so thought this would be a great way to have a taste of that. Thanks so much for hosting such an amazing competition, really appreciate it. Know that it would be a heck of a lot of work and time. Hope you’ve had a great day!

Thanks Sharon!
Oh, that was great, Angie! ๐
Best of luck; I’m sure you will totally rock it if you’re selected.
Thanks Cyndy! Bit different from LJ Survivor ๐
One more reason I know we’d be great friends in real life ๐ I’m right there on reality tv with you. Survivor may still be my favorite—with Sewvivor a close 2nd, of course!
I’ve been binge watching Top Chef lately – started back at Season 1. I don’t know what it is but I can’t get enough. I’ve also been watching the US Masterchef – so different from our version, way more aggressive in the competition. We’re definitely going to have to visit the US! ๐
Bahaha!!! Fantastic! You totally deserve to get in both for the gorgeous quilt and the video. I’m even sadder now that I didn’t get to meet you at the Sydney Quilt Fair.
Thanks Bec! I’m much more boring in person ๐
Really really loved this Angie! Thanks for the several laugh-out-loud moments! You’re fab!
Thanks Annabel ๐

I truly enjoyed reading this post. The thing that came to mind was the fact you can float on a feather achieving your dreams ๐
What a great saying. Thanks so much for stopping by. ๐
Vote 1 Angie from GnomeAngel!! What a cracker of a video! I especially loved your blindfolded fabric-recognition – you got mad skillzz. Go go go! xx
I think they should add the blind fold fabric recognition as a skill test for joining Guilds ๐ Ha! Thanks Cat.
