How to Help with the Australian Bush Fires
Australia is on fire and it’s heartbreaking. At times like this it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. The need to help out is strong and we all want to ease the suffering of others. I’ve pulled together a list of ways that you can help (see below).
Please keep in mind that the Emergency Services and Charity Organisations have been inundated with food and goods to help people, which is amazing but they’re at capacity and so they’re now asking people to, if they can, donate cash so it can go to those that are trained and able to best help.
The fires are still active and the full extent of the damage done cannot be assessed at this time. While I know, and understand, the desire to want to do something now – the time that we’ll really need to help is when the smoke clears and people are able to start working out what exactly has occurred. Please use websites and social media to check with organisations before emailing them. As you can image they’re getting a lot of communications that can wait and this is hampering their efforts. I ask that you check out organisations websites and social media to see what they need before contacting them. It’s little things like taking the pressure off their communications teams that allow them to be effective and respond quickly to those in real need.

World Transform Bush Fire Appeal – This bush fire appeal is run through the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal – this is a great site for donating money to help at the ground level.
NSW Rural Fire Services – these are the men and woman that are on the ground fighting the fires in New South Wales.
Animal Rescue Craft Group – this is a Facebook group that works together to make things to help with injured wildlife.
Cool the Fireys – This initiative is looking to make 10,000 cool neck ties for the fire fighters.
