Link Love: Skulls, Stars and Greenish Thumbs

My sewjo has returned and I’m actually enjoying being in the sewing room making and creating. It’s such a great feeling when your obsession and love for creating returns. I’ve been finishing off some of my outstanding (and not in the “Gee, these look outstanding!” way) projects to clear off my work table so I can work on new and exciting things. It’s been great to get things done and out the door – like a clearing of the cobwebs.

The weather has improved and so we’ve been spending time doing gardening type things. We’re not that great when it comes to the yard, but we’ve decided to make an effort to get things how we’d like them and so we’re slowly cleaning up, pulling out and digging in. The boys have been growing vegetables from seeds and every day we’re having fun looking and seeing what’s sprouted and grown. Did you know beetroot is red when it springs forth from the seed? I had no idea. I’m such a city slicker.

I’m taking the plunge this week and making a start on my first ever dress making adventure. I’m apprehensive but excited about it. I’m using Cashmerette’s Upton Dress pattern and it looks really good. I normally like to download patterns, but on this one I bought the paper pattern and I was so surprised at the quality of the pattern when it arrived. I feel all grown up and like I could be on Project Runway just reading the instructions – imagine what I’ll be like when I actually make a dress! I’ll keep you posted on my progress. (Although if it’s a complete failure I’m never going to mention it again and I’d appreciate if you don’t either. *wink*)

It’s getting so close to when I have to jump on a plane and be on my way to Houston and I’m getting even more excited and nervous. I keep thinking of all the amazing people I’m going to see and finally meet and it’s just so fabulous. The quilting community is really an amazing thing to be part of. But enough daydreaming, it’s time to get back to the sewing machine. Wishing you a most fabulously creative day!
