MEET NIGHTINGALE QUILTS

Meet Nightingale Quilts on GnomeAngel.com - part of the Meet Me Interview Series.

Sometimes the internet brings someone into your life that just feels like they’ve been there forever and for me Caroline (of Nightingale Quilts) was one of those people.

I have loved getting to knowย Caroline over the past 8 months and I’m thrilled to be able to see her passion and flare for quilting come to life. She’s going to be huge in the quilting world – trust me, I know boats!

Caroline‘s quilt, Sea Glass Medallion, has been picked up by Michael Miller Fabrics to be part of their upcoming Quilt Market booth – which, as any quilter will tell you, is a massive achievement (and compliment).

I’m so excited for her and I’m so thrilled to call her a friend and I hope you love learning a little bit more about her.

1. How did you come to be a quilter?

With great reluctance! I had resigned from work due to my health and after about six months, my mother had begun to worry about me becoming isolated and withdrawn. I played xBox all afternoon and night and slept the rest of the time. I wasn’t very well, but I wasn’t exactly doing anything to improve things (both my mental or physical health).

One day after visiting a specialist, my mother dragged me into a fabric shop. I was bored and impatient to leave but my mum eventually had me interested in a few fabrics and the rest is history.

I designed the quilt in my head, not realising that most people buy a pattern and then fabric to match it. I just saw fabrics and pictured how I would set it out. I swiftly learnt that a uniform seam allowance was important (after just sewing two fabrics together and finding one row wasn’t the same as the next in measurements and ever since, I’ve just been making whatever comes up in my head.

  1. Thanks for interviewing me Gnomes.
It’s funny reading it through again. I sound so serious and grown up. When did that happen?
Also, thanks for your compliments at the beginning, I’m blushing like mad over here.
Now, back to saving world *sweeps cape back and puff out chest*
