MEET NIGHTINGALE QUILTS

8. What quilting challenges would you like to conquer in the next 12 months.

I would love to do FMQ. At the moment I’m nowhere near confident enough to do FMQ on anything bigger than 15โ€ x 15โ€. Even then, I’ve only tried three or four times.

I would also like to make something and put it in a competition/exhibition. I’ve never entered a quilt into anything.

9. Whatโ€™s your 3 favourite quilts that youโ€™ve made that reflect who you are as a quilter?

There’s my triangle tangle. I love geometry. Mathematically beautiful quilts give me a buzz. I see them and they make the math nerd in me squeal. This was the second or third quilt I had every made. I even made the backing and binding line up. Unnecessary but totally worth it.

The Swift Wreath was the first pattern I sold and so will always be my little baby. It has a symmetry that pleases my math nerd and yet remains traditional.

The Sea Glass Medallion. It was my first quilt that was designed to be used purely with solids. I have made one of my other patterns with solids, but having a patten based around specific colours and their tones/shades was new to me.

10. If you werenโ€™t a quilter, what other creative endeavour would you like to master?

I’m not sure about creative endeavours, but I would love to study natural history and anatomy. Definite loves of mine are the diversity of animals and their biomechanical/biological differences.

  1. Thanks for interviewing me Gnomes.
It’s funny reading it through again. I sound so serious and grown up. When did that happen?
Also, thanks for your compliments at the beginning, I’m blushing like mad over here.
Now, back to saving world *sweeps cape back and puff out chest*
