MEET PENNYDOG PATCHWORK

I’m ashamed to say it but Kerry (of Pennydog Patchwork) knew of me before I knew of her… but now I do know her I’ll stalk her to the end of days.

I fell in love with Kerry’s attitude towards quilting while in the midst of the behind-the-scenes getting to know you part of Sewvivor and then my heart was gone when I saw her first entry revealed. (I mean, seriously, who makes a singing Billy Bass and isn’t awesome!)

I’m still roaming around Kerry’s blog and getting to know her and use some of the tutorials she’s shared, so this was a fun little interview for me. I hope you enjoy it too.

How did you come to be a quilter?

Very much by accident. I’ve been a jewellery maker in some form or other most of my life and this lead me on to an editorial position on a relaunch of a magazine here in the UK called Popular Crafts. To cut a long story short, it is now called something else, I’ve not worked on it for some years either, but the sister publication was Popular Patchwork, and the people that worked on the magazine taught me the ropes within the world of publishing and I had a few copies for reference. It came as inspiration from flicking through those magazines, as well as coinciding with wanting to print my own fabrics for handbags and stuff as I was sewing a little bit by then, but not patchwork til that point.
