MEET SAMELIA’S MUM

1. How did you come to be a quilter?
Unlike a lot of people, my mother and grandmothers, cousins or aunts, not one of them was a quilter. But in saying this, they were very crafty ladies.
When my children were little, I was in dire need of an outlet – a new hobby which would be all mine. I was restless. I’d worked in the corporate world for so long, and then I went to being at home with my kids all day which was a completely new way of life.
I discovered craft blogs and YouTube. I read tutorials and watched a tonne of videos. Alex Anderson was on Foxtel during baby feeding times so I’d watch and absorb as much as I could. Before I knew it, I was dusting off the old sewing machine and having a go at making my first quilt. 5 years later and I’m now an addict.
2. What is it that you love about being a quilter?
I love the creative process. I love fabrics. I love that I can make something beautiful yet functional and personal. I love that I can make lots of quilts and then gift them for birthdays and Christmas …. and then make more.

3. What made you start want to sharing your quilt journey through your blog; Samelia’s Mum?
I joined a few forums and a lot of people which I chatted with had blogs. It looked to be a great way to share numerous photos, write a little about what I made or how I made it. One night I visited blogspot.com and went from there. I’ve been blogging for 4 years now and it’s a huge part of my life. I cannot imagine life without sameliasmum.com.
4. What gives you the most joy from sharing your quilting journey with others?
The feedback I receive along with reader emails and comments. I love when people make something using one of my patterns and then share photos. This gives me the biggest buzz!

Thank you for sharing these great people to follow Angie!! BTW, I so love your new blog and seems like a lot of effort has been done lately and it is looking amazing!!! Wishing you the best success with blogging and doing what you love!
Love looking at all the different types of quilt designs. Like the sugar stars a lot!
What a great Q and A! Loved getting to know Anorina and looking forward to more of these posts!
….Except Anorina doesn’t sneakily put things on my i-Devices without my permission 😉 Great interview again!
