REVIEW | DR NO COMMITMENT

A mischievous romantic comedy, about a man whos always run from love and the girl who just might catch him. Ally was warned about Rohan Sinclair when she first moved to town and she is determined she wont let this gorgeous, model-dating doctor distract her from being the best nurse she can be. Problem is, this bad boy just happens to live in the room next door . . .Its hard enough to resist his persistent charm at home; almost impossible when they are thrown together at work . . . But a little innocent flirting never hurt anyone, right? Wrong. Ally knows its a terrible idea to fall for a man who will never commit, but what if in every other way hes her perfect guy?
It’s been so long since I read a book that wasn’t The Very Cranky Bear, Pete the Sheep or That’s Not My… that I’ve forgotten the sheer joy of a few uninterrupted hours of escape. I’m a lover of romance (I love a happy ending) and it’s what I go to when I want something light and that’s exactly what I got with Do No Commitment.
It was great to be able to read a story set in Australia (Adelaide) and to also have the element of being set in a Labour and Delivery Ward. (I love reading about babies being born!) The leading lady, Ally, is so endearing with her naivety and generous spirit – you love her almost immediately. Rohan provides a nice contrast and his bad boy image is so transparent that you’re rooting for him to get the girl despite all the secrets.
They have a natural chemistry between them and it’s a really pleasant read. It reminded me of lazy summers as a teenager reading the Mills & Boon’s I had collected from Op Shops.
If you’re looking for a holiday read or just something to help you forget about the upcoming zombie apocalypse (I made the mistake of watching World War Z and so when I was too afraid to close my eyes lest a zombie come crashing through our bedroom window this book helped distract me and get me to sleep with pleasant dreams of leafy Adelaide suburbs, newborn babies and love) than this is a book you’ll enjoy.
Available from Random Romance (Random House Australia) on 2 December 2013
