#100Days100Blocks2018 City Sampler Inspiration

Warning: This post is very eye candy (image) heavy which means it might be a little slow to load. I apologise for any inconvenience it might cause.

#100Days100Blocks2018 kicks off on July 7 and I thought I’d give you a little bit of a treat by sharing some Tula Pink City Sampler eye candy and inspiration to help you work out whether you too want to make your own version of this fun quilt. This will be the third, and final, year that I use Tula Pink’s City Sampler as the basis for this event. (Next year, I’ll be using something new and exciting which I’ll be sharing with you in October when I reveal the details for #100Days100Blocks2019!) If you’ve ever wanted to make this quilt now is a great time to get in on the action and win some amazing prizes (there’s over $2,500 in prizes up for grabs this year, but more on that later!).

I’ve collated the following quilts from around the internet. Where possible I have listed the quilter if known. I have also listed if the image originates from someone other than the blogger/instagrammer. If any of the details are incorrect please let me know immediately and I will rectify them. These are amazing examples of just how flexible City Sampler can be and have been provided in no particular order.

Where possible I’ve also hunted down bundles, books and tutorials to help you get these looks if this is the sort of thing you’re looking for. I hope this helps to push you off the fence and get you ready for #100Days100Blocks2018!

You can buy the book via theseย linksย Book Depository (click here)ย |ย ย Amazon (click here)ย |ย Fons & Porter (click here)ย |ย Keepsake Quilting (click here)ย |ย Interweave Store (click here)ย and if you do so I will make a small commission on the sale which will go towards helping me to run this amazing event. (Thank you so much!)

City Sampler Eye Candy

Lizzy and the City – GnomeAngel

The quilt that started it all; Lizzy and the City. This is the quilt I made in the very first #100Days100Blocks. It’s an ode to one of my favourite fabric designers, Lizzy House (on the left in the above photo). You can read all about this quilt and see more images by clicking here.

I confess that I have long loved this version of the City Sampler by Meike. (In fact I pretty much love everything she does!) I loved seeing these blocks come together during the event and now to see it quilted with this amazing quilt by Iva just makes my heart sing. I rarely covet quilts, but this one I’d add to my collection in a heart beat.

This is the version of the City Sampler with no sashing or borders and it’s so impactful. I love the big bold colour in this version teamed with the simple spiral quilting.

I love this festive version of the City Sampler. It’s so unexpected and wonderful. The clever use of colour change just makes this great quilt sublime. It’s the kind of clever quilt that makes me wish I was that smart.

This version is ALL Tula! I love reading about how May hunted for the OOP fabrics, because I’ve been guilty of that in the past! I also love that this version is set on point with two different background colours.

I love that Kim shopped her scrap bin to make this quilt. It’s got so much interest and depth to it.
