#100Days100Blocks2019 Finished Quilts

#100Days100Blocks2019 has come to and end and all that’s left is to vote on the finished quilt tops that have been submitted by this years participants. I’ve been blown away by the creativity, vision and dedication that this group of quilters have shown in getting their quilt tops finished. It has been a true blessing to be able to see 100+ versions of the quilt that Bec and I designed reimagined through others skills and talents.

#100Days100Blocks2020 kicks off 1 July 2020 and we’ll be using the same pattern: Kinship: 100 Block Fusion Sampler. This will be the 5th year the event is run and I’m already working on making it bigger and better than this years events. The quilts are listed in the order the entries were received with the first entry received in position 1 and the last entry received in position 134. Images HAVE NOT been modified by me and are shown exactly as they have been received. Images are scaled by Google Forms and WordPress to be standard sizes where they exceed the size limits of these platforms.

Just a little about my process: I started with the poppies as a focal fabric and chose all the solids based on the colors in the floral. When placing my blocks, I didn’t worry about how many large or small to put in each row – I just went by color and what I thought looked good! The border was originally going to include a two inch floral border and then a final 4 inch navy border, but I decided it didn’t need it! All 100 blocks are included but (full disclosure) my square block 49 (I did not love my version) has been split down the centre seam to create 2 rectangular blocks, both included in the far left column along with additional duplicate blocks to increase the finished size of my quilt to 81″ square (I like square quilts). You must log into Google to vote. Voting will be anonymous, however to make it fairer for everyone you will be required to log into your google account as a means of limiting vote rigging. Voting is open from 12:01am 2 December 2019 AEST to 11:59pm 20 December 2019 AEST. Winner will be announced 31 December 2019 AEST.

I have made the decision to leave quilts in the voting that do not strictly adhere to the rules due to blocks being incorrectly made, trimmed to incorrect sizes or that are a few blocks short of the required number for entry. I have done this because I believe it’s in keeping with the spirit of how I run the event. Mistakes happen to all of us and I extending to others the same grace that the Lord has extended to me.

This will be the last time I will offer a cash prize for any events I run. I have received an email from a participant that was personally abusive and threatened my business. It is obvious that the offer of cash as a prize has brought out the less desirable side of some participants. As per my rules for prizes, I don’t run these events as a means of distributing prizes and I do not support greed. These events take a considerable amount of effort and time to organise and I run them because I want to promote a fun and supportive creative community. I extended the entry deadline because of the confusion and how I would have felt if I’d missed out because I’d misunderstood something. I did it out of kindness and while I understand that it may have been frustrating or disappointing for some I believe on the whole it was a nicer thing to do. It is heartbreaking that extending a kindness has resulted in such an act of disrespect and abuse.

I have collated all the submitted quilts to the best of my ability using the technology that is currently available to me. If you believe there’s a mistake in this list of quilts please email me POLITELY and we’ll work together to get it sorted. It has not been intentional, mistakes happen. The results will of this voting will be final and no threatening or abusive discussion will be entered into about the awarding of the prize. For transparency I will publish the voting numbers for the top 5 quilts.
