5 PODCASTS I JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF RIGHT NOW

I have a confession, I didn’t listen to podcasts before Serial. But with Serial ending it’s season and my addiction to listening to podcasts while working growing I decided to hunt down some quilting, blogging and creativity related podcasts to help keep me motivated, inspired, learning and entertained. 

I’ve been collecting podcasts in much the same way I collect favourite fabrics, so I thought it might be cool to share my current top 5 podcasts with you all. You might be surprised to see what I’m listening to or you might know of a podcast I just have to check out (if you do leave me a comment and let me know, like Skittles you can never have too many podcasts!).

In no particular order, my current top 5 podcasts are:

American Patchwork and Quilting Radio with Pat Sloan

I’m only a really recent convert to Pat Sloan’s radio show but I’m addicted. I really love listening to Pat (can I call her Pat, I feel like I should call her Ms Sloan) with her guests, she’s so laid back, welcoming and upbeat. I like to pretend that we’re just sitting around chatting and sharing cake and tea.

Pat has such a variety of guests and she’s got such a great interview style that I feel like I could listen to any episode and find it relevant, regardless of the persons speciality area. It’s a great way to find more inspiration and learn some tips and tricks from a variety of people.

Elise Gets Crafty

Ros (of Sew Delicious) sent me a link to this podcast because it was covering a topic that we had been talking about. I listened to the episode in question and then systematically worked my way through the podcasts available.  The thing that I love about this podcast series is that it sounds like just how my friends all talk when we get together; it’s about sharing our knowledge, encouraging and supporting. This is a really great podcast if you’re looking for a bit of inspiration with a kick in the pants. I love listening to it when I’m looking for business motivation.

Me Being Crafty

I’m really digging Tsoniki’s podcasts (plus I love just saying Tsoniki). They’re really great at getting a bit more of an insight into the creative drive behind some of your favourite makers and designers. Tsoniki has a really great style and you can tell she thinks about what she’s doing. I love when she reflects back on the conversation and shares with you her take away thoughts (it’s always great to see if I had the same take away thoughts as she did, I always learn something new).

Modern Sewciety

I found Modern Sewciety when I was in Sewvivor as Stephanie was a sponsor and she also covered the competition. She does a great B Side podcast (for those not old enough to know what a B Side is click here) where it’s more laid back and a great chat with quilting friends.

The Bugle

Ok, so this one isn’t really a quilting or creative related podcast, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share one of my loves with you; John Oliver (from Last Week Tonight). This is a podcast that he does with Andy Zaltzman. It can be a bit hit and miss, but when it hits I have trouble seeing straight from the laughter. Plus I can feel like I’m still keeping an eye on current events while not really being sucked in to all the corporate commercial crap.
