On Wednesday Kristy and I will meet in Sydney before boarding our Houston bound flight Thursday morning. I’m starting to feel the pre-trip nerves building as things are slowly (too slowly) coming together. My suitcase is out, I’ve been putting the final touches on Market sewing, HUBBY has been helping me put together the promotional packs and I’ve generally been trying to work through my huge to-do list so that I can board that flight without everything grinding to a halt back here while I’m away.
This time last year I was freaking out about all the unknowns. It was my firs trip to Quilt Market and I had no idea what to expect. I was heading there to do some research and get a handle on it because I knew that this year I’d have to hit the floor running if I wanted to make the most of my promotional responsibilities. I had the best time on that trip. It was amazing to be able to meet the people that I’d only dealt with online, it was super cool to see all the people I admired and respected up close and personal and it was a blast getting to meet Nicole. This year however it’s even more about the work. I have a myriad of commitments and things that I need to do and I’m really nervous about it all.
I will be presenting at School House with some wonderfully talented ladies. My session is on at 5:30pm (Houston time) on Friday 27 October. C&T Publishing will be live streaming it on Facebook so be sure you’ve liked their Facebook page so you don’t miss out. I can’t guarantee that I won’t say something inappropriate so it might be worth checking out just for the cringe factor! On Saturday morning I’ve got my book signing happening at the C&T Publishing booth and then on Sunday I’m doing a signing and demonstration at the Brewer booth. I’ll try to get one of the ladies I’m traveling with to record some of these events so I can share them with you when I get home.
I’m really excited about all the people that I’ve been working out how to catch up with while I’m there. I’m going to be so busy and while my body is already protesting my mind is thinking about the laughs, inspiration and friendship. Also, tacos. Seriously, I think my mouth started watering for tacos about two months ago and I’m just about a blubbering mess right now. I’m planning to do what I did last year where I shared a stupid crazy amount of images on my Instagram feed. I had such a blast sharing my version of Quilt Market and Houston with everyone that I’m looking forward to doing it again this year. Be ready for lots of quilt market eye candy interspersed with images of tacos.
In the meantime, today’s news is jam packed with information that I need to share with you all so I’m sorry that there’s going to probably be more information about things I’m doing then the usual 5 links. (Those links are still there, there’s just more!) I’m also doing something fairly unheard of in these parts – I’m taking 2 weeks off from my inbox. I’m putting up the out-of-office today and I’ll be back on deck Monday 6 November. Blog posts will still happen, so don’t worry I’ve already got those scheduled. I’m just not going to be able to answer stuff while I’m travelling. It’s a great excuse for getting to know the members in the Home of Gnome(Angel) Facebook Group. If you’ve got a question, ask in the group and I’m sure someone very awesome will answer it for you.
Right, so I’m off. Have a great fortnight! I hope it’s filled with love, laughter and fabric fondling and I’ll see you in person again on Monday 6 November.
