MEET WOODENSPOON QUILTS

2. What is it that you love about being a quilter

Before I discovered quilting I dabbled in loads of different creative pastimes, none of them really stuck but I always needed to have some kind of creative outlet. I think my favourite thing about being a quilter is that it fills that need in me to be creative and use my creative energy. And I love that the skills you learn in quilting can be used to make so many practical, beautiful things, way beyond just quilts.

3. You have a fabulous way with fabrics, how do you define ‘low volume’?

Low volume for me are fabrics that are happy to take backstage to other brighter, more colourful fabrics, allowing those fabrics to shine, while still adding interest to the background. My favourite low volume fabrics are those that aren’t too busy or colourful. Carolyn Friedlander does so many beautiful LV fabrics. Text fabrics are another favourite.

4. What gives you the most joy sharing your quilting journey on social media and your blog?

For me, the best bit is making connections with people all over the world and making real life friends.

5. What are you most proud of from your quilting experience?

I love that I’ve been able to make quilts for my each of my 3 children. I like to think that they will treasure those quilts forever and maybe they’ll even get used on my grandchildren’s beds.

    1. Funny how we find someone one way online and then when we find out they have more places where they share their work it’s like hitting a gold mine. I really love Rachel’s work and I was so thrilled to be able to share her creative genius. 🙂
