6. What’s the one piece of advice about quilting that all new quilters should know?
Splash out and treat yourself to a good quality 6″x24” ruler. I battled with a cheap 6½” x 24” ruler for ages, I was forever making cutting errors because I’d flipped the ruler and while I thought I was making a 2 1/2″ cut, I was actually making a 2″ cut. I own two Olfa rulers now, I absolutely love them, they don’t seem to slip around like my old rulers did, and the markings are so much easier to read.
7. Who’s the quilter(s) that inspire you at the moment?
I’m inspired by so many quilters, here are just a few of them… Amanda from @Heyporkchop, I love her use of colour, itty bitty piecing and improv. @Clothwork, Melissa’s work is amazing! I love Latifah’s work too, it’s always so original and inspiring. I love the way Heather from House of a la Mode uses pattern and colour. And Carolyn Friedlander and Denyse Schmidt for their fabric, patterns, and style.
Great interview! I’ve seen and admired Rachel’s work around Flickr, but I didn’t realize she has a blog. Must follow! You shared so many spectacular finishes of hers!
Funny how we find someone one way online and then when we find out they have more places where they share their work it’s like hitting a gold mine. I really love Rachel’s work and I was so thrilled to be able to share her creative genius. 🙂
