Michael Miller Fabrics Travel Daze

Michael Miller Fabrics sent me a lovely selection of fabrics from the Travel Daze range to play with and I knew exactly what I wanted to make. I’ve been long eyeing off the Meshing Around pattern from Patterns by Annie so I jumped at the chance to have a go at sewing with Mesh.

I ordered mesh, elastic bias and the pattern from Voodoo Rabbit Fabric. The materials arrived super quick and I got to making. It was my first time sewing with mesh and I found the pattern gave so much support that I felt like I could conquer it. It was also my first time sewing with elastic bias and that was a dream.

ThermoWeb had sent through some Iron-on Vinyl and this was the perfect project for it as I plan to use this bag when we travel with the Little Man.

I found the vinyl easy to apply but a little unforgiving when used in a project. The turning of the bag during the making and the passing through the feed dogs left marks on the vinyl. It’s not enough for me to not use the product again, I’d just be more mindful of it on the next project.

I sewed the large size of the bag and it’s brilliant. It fits our 7yo perfectly and it’s still a great size for adults to use as well. It fits heaps in it and the elastic on the pockets mean that things don’t fall out easily.

I really love how this fabric from Travel Daze transitions between adult and child seamlessly. It means that I can use it and so can our son without any worries.
