Quilts with an Angle – Book Review

Confession time? Triangles in quilting scare me. They look super cool, but the thought of sewing with angles just petrifies me. But not any more! I was super lucky to be asked by Sheila Christensen to review her new book Quilts with an Angle and it’s made me excited about tackling triangles.

Quilts with an Angle covers everything you need to know to become a master of triangles. The projects offer a wide variety of complexity from the super simple beginner friendly quilts to a group of more challenging quilts. There’s information about choosing fabrics, making sure your seams are correct, choosing the right tools and how to quickly cut triangles for working with.

Sheila has put her heart and soul into making triangles accessible for everyone and it shows in her book. Sheila walks you through how to make sewing with triangles accurate and even provides handy strip cutting tables within the book to help you speed up your preparations.

I love that there’s a variety of shapes included in Quilts with an Angle that aren’t just triangles (think trapezoids, diamonds and hexagon) but use the same principles as working with triangles. These shapes open up even more opportunities to make spectacular quilts.

I also love that Sheila provides quilting suggestions for those of us that might not be as confident with working out how to finish these amazing quilts. Quilts with an Angle is a great resource for those, like me, that want (and need) a lot of support to conquer their irrational fear of angles in quilting!
