Link Love: Love in the time of COVID-19
I confess I’ve really struggled to pull this week’s blog post together. I’m struggling mentally at the moment to keep going as business-as-usual because it is clearly not business as usual. Our family made a decision last week that we’d be going into lock down before the government makes the call. That’s meant that I’ve cancelled all our social outings and we’re not leaving the house unless it’s absolutely necessary. We’re even making the decision to remove our son from school for the remainder of the school term without waiting on the government to make the decision. We’re taking action because we appreciate that we’re not the only ones that would be impacted. We’re doing it as a sign of love for our community.
In some ways the decision has been taken out of our hands as the Little Man was diagnosed on Monday with tonsillitis so we’d have been housebound for at least a week under normal circumstances. HUBBY is still looking for work so he’s home as well and has moved to doing interviews and alike via video and phone. I can’t say I’m not relieved to have everyone at home at this time. We’ve had 3 cases confirmed in Canberra and the numbers in Australia are starting to show exponential growth which has been the tipping point for things getting out of control in other countries.
I know that many of you who are reading this will be in the same boat. You’ll be worried about what the future brings for your family and whether you’re making the right decisions to help your family navigate this situation. If ever there was a time for us to pull together now is the time. There are so many ways for us to stay connected via technology and I’ve been talking with friends in the business about how we can all do this to help support our amazing community.
I’ve spent the past week with my head firmly in our family and things with the business has been on the back-burner. I’m sorry if you’ve been waiting on things from me or looking for further support with the #FMM9PatchParade. I’ve tried to keep things moving, but for my own mental health and to meet the changing needs of our family I’ve had to walk away from things for a little bit to regroup. I am working to get things back on track and everything should be (God willing) back to normal next week as we spend this week trying to work out our family routine now all 3 of us are home. There will be changes to things to reflect the fact that businesses the world over are struggling at the moment. I, personally, don’t feel like I can ask businesses for sponsorship when they’re struggling. I want them to sell that stock so that they can feed their families. So events will likely move forward without prizes.
Everything is fluid at the moment and that’s ok. We need to remember to be kind to each other and show consideration and patience. It’s a scary time for all and it’s at this time I’m very grateful to the Lord for all the provisions he’s made for us. Wishing you a week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!
