#BROTHERGOESPINK FOR CHRISTMAS

In the middle of October Brother Australia approached me to create a Pink Christmas themed project as part of their #Brothergoespink campaign with the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I was totally blown away and extremely flattered that Brother Australia would want to work with me and especially on something as important as raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support. Not only is Brother Australia supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation they’re also giving you the chance to win 1 of 12 amazing giveaways in the lead up to Christmas (but more on that soon!).
Brother Australia asked me to design a Christmas project that used pink as the primary colour and would be easy enough for a beginner to make it. Sounds easy enough, but it took me a lot longer than I thought it would to come up with a project.ย I went through a couple of ideas, but in the end I settled on a basic patchwork pattern that I think delivers impact, has a lot of room for having fun with fabrics and can be made by someone completely new to quilting.
I designed, made and (drum roll) quilted the “Joy of Christmas” wall hanging.
I decided that a Christmas ornament with one of my favourite emotions on it would be a great way to spread Christmas cheer. I’m so happy with how this wall hanging turned out. I designed it, made it and then quilted it myself all within a couple of days (a Christmas miracle in itself!).
It’s a great scrap buster (I just hit up my pink scrap bin) and the fabrics don’t even have to be Christmas ones (there’s not a single Christmas fabric in here!). The background fabric is a Dear Stella tone-on-tone silver mini dot and it makes it sparkle in person. I also used white and cream tone-on-tone prints for the word ‘joy’ which makes a nice texture.
I quilted it in a traditional straight line quilting pattern that anyone can do and I think it’s fun and a little traditional for a time of year that can be really traditional. I’m really thrilled with how it turned out and I can’t wait to use it this Christmas.
But enough about my “process” what you really want to know is how you can win fabulous prizes, right? So here’s the run down…

I love this! I think I’ve already told you that. I am starting mine this week. You have some awesome pink fabrics in your stash!
Great submission by you…..well done. I have a question though, I couldn’t find the answer anywhere, but is the competition open worldwide?

Awesome pattern! I love designing with simple shapes. Thanks for sharing!
I love it! It definitely looks simple but has so many possibilities for colors and patterns! Well done!
Yay! I’m not a big pink person, but I love it when it’s involved with this great cause. This is a great one for all those Cotton & Steel glittery fabrics!
