Link Love: 6 Hours for 4 Minutes

It’s been a massive week in our household. We opened our shop (yay!), I submitted my quilts for judging in the upcoming Canberra Quilters Exhibition and Raylee (of Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting) and I drove into Sydney to spend 4 minutes interviewing Hamish and Andy. Yep, that’s right, we drove 6+ hours to spend 4 minutes with some of the nicest people, have a laugh and promote quilting. How did it happen? Well I listen to Hamish and Andy’s podcast while I work and last week I was sewing and listening and they had put a call out for people to come in and interview them as part of “The People’s Press Junket” to promote the second season of True Stories which kicks off tomorrow night on Channel 9.

I figured I’d apply and if it happened it would be a laugh, if not no big deal. I was so stoked to be contacted and asked to come in, bring a quilt, and ask the lads some questions about the series. I couldn’t go alone, so in what is turning out to be a bit of a pattern, I roped Raylee into coming with me. We couldn’t go empty handed so Raylee turned two of the blocks I’d made for the Fat Quarter Shop Charity Quilt into cushions to give the lads. (A surfing one for Hamish because they’re learning to surf this year and a birthday cake for Andy, because every day is his birthday!)

On Saturday morning we drove from Canberra to Sydney excitedly yabbering about all things quilting and trying to work out what we could possibly ask the lads that related to their show and tied in quilting. In the end we came up with 4 questions and only got to ask them 2. Four minutes when you’re packing your pants because you’re in a room full of people and cameras sitting in front of two people you find really funny goes so quick. I cringe when I think about it. I was so nervous and just came off like a total dork, but it’s all good – it’s all promotion in the name of getting quilting out there in front of the world. Thankfully the lads were very lovely and didn’t point out how big a dork I was.

I’ll have images and some footage of the day to share with you all next week, in the meantime just trust me when I tell you last week was massive. I slept from 7pm Saturday night to 7:30am Sunday morning – something I haven’t done in years! (Shame I still feel like I could sleep for another 48 hours!) This week I’ll be working on some more secret squirrel stuff and getting ready for the launch of the Farmer’s Wife Sew-along. It’s coming up so quickly and I’m already behind on where I wanted to be – get ready for a big dump of support information this week!

Right, better go apparently it’s Monday which means the kid needs to go to school, Hubs needs to go to work and I have fabric to fondle! Wishing you a week filled with love, laughter and much fabric fondling!
