MEET QUILT JANE

Meet Quilt Jane - an interview series on GnomeAngel.com

There’s a few quilters out there that I’ve long admired and have been fortunate enough to meet and Jane Davidson (of Quilt Jane) is just one of these quilters. One of the things I admire most about Jane’s work is her dedication to complex design and accuracy. The perfectionist in me just loves Jane’s work, but I know she’ll tell you that she’s not a perfectionist she’s just in it for the fun and thrill of it all.

I really love and admire Jane’s attitude towards quilting and how freely she gives of her time and knowledge.  (She’s been my quilt problem saviour on a number of occasions!) She’s abundantly enthusiastic about her craft and delights in seeing new quilters come alive in their craft.

I’m so very thankful to have met Jane and I’m thrilled to be able to share a bit more of her with you all today. Enjoy!

1. How did you come to be a quilter?

I attended a class when I was 19 with my friend Rosie. I made a hand pieced, self-designed, hand quilted queen sized quilt. I caught the quilting bug but unfortunately did not get time to make many quilts until many years later.

  1. Thanks Angie and Jane. I am really enjoying getting to know these amazing quilters better. I love to see all the work on IG and fun updates on FB but your posts are terrific way to understand their passion and admire their work.

  2. Jane was one of the very first quilters I found online when starting to quilt myself, and it was from her that I started my stash – both purchasing a Flurry layer cake (from which my love for Kate Spain only grew and grew!) and from winning a giveaway on her blog. She has always been a huge inspiration and someone I shall forever be grateful for helping me start this most amazing journey!!

    1. Thank you Alyce. You are an inspiration to me. I love following your adventures in Japan and watching the progress of your beautiful quilting projects.

  3. Jane is such a lovely, giving person – just as you’ve said. I’m lucky enough to have her living around the corner! I really love her use of colour – she is so brave and pulls off all sorts of colour schemes that I would never think to try. I’m really looking forward to her book collation, which is coming out early next year!

    1. I am the lucky one having such a lovely and talented person living close by. I am blown away by your designs.
